{"id":2063,"date":"2020-05-11T15:50:33","date_gmt":"2020-05-11T14:50:33","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/amandacelis.com\/en\/?p=2063"},"modified":"2024-10-11T08:38:39","modified_gmt":"2024-10-11T07:38:39","slug":"mindful-attitude-present-with-curiosity","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/amandacelis.com\/en\/mindful-attitude-present-with-curiosity\/","title":{"rendered":"A Mindful Attitude: being present with curiosity and acceptance"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Cuando observamos la <strong>actividad de nuestra propia mente<\/strong> (pensamientos, emociones, planes, recuerdos, etc.) surge en nosotros\/as lo que llamamos \u201cel observador\u201d o la \u201cconciencia testigo\u201d. Es entonces cuando estamos presentes, nos damos cuenta del contenido de nuestra mente, y podemos <strong>observar nuestras preocupaciones, miedos o deseos con cierta distancia<\/strong>. Pasamos de la modalidad \u201cPiloto autom\u00e1tico\u201d a la modalidad \u201cEstar presentes\u201d o, como yo le llamo, \u201cActitud Mindful\u201d.<\/p>\n\n<p>Al observar nuestra mente nos daremos cuenta de que hay pensamientos y emociones que son \u00fatiles, agradables y que nos ayudan a avanzar hacia nuestros objetivos como, por ejemplo, la<strong> esperanza<\/strong>, la<strong> ilusi\u00f3n<\/strong>, pensamientos sobre nuestros <strong>logros personales <\/strong>o la <strong>aceptaci\u00f3n sana<\/strong>. Pero tambi\u00e9n hay una serie de emociones y pensamientos que no son tan \u00fatiles, y que pueden obstaculizar nuestro cambio y felicidad, como, por ejemplo: el miedo, la tristeza, pensamientos autocr\u00edticos, negatividad o la apat\u00eda.<\/p>\n\n<p>Muchas veces clasificamos las emociones como positivas o negativas, pero es m\u00e1s adecuado pensar en ellas como emociones dif\u00edciles o dolorosas en lugar de negativas porque todas las emociones cumplen una funci\u00f3n de adaptaci\u00f3n. <strong>Todas las emociones nos dan informaci\u00f3n que podemos utilizar en beneficio de nuestro desarrollo personal<\/strong>, si las aceptamos y no luchamos en contra de ellas (en definitiva, luchar en contra de nosotros mismos\/as, una guerra en la que siempre perderemos).<br\/>Pero \u00bfc\u00f3mo podemos aceptar lo que vemos en nuestro interior? y lo m\u00e1s importante, \u00bfqu\u00e9 podemos hacer para cambiarlo si no estamos satisfechos con lo que descubrimos?<\/p>\n\n<p>El primer paso es <strong>darnos cuenta<\/strong> del contenido de nuestro <strong>di\u00e1logo interno<\/strong>, el siguiente es ver si esos pensamientos y emociones son \u00fatiles en estos momentos o, si por el contrario, nos impiden <strong>avanzar en la direcci\u00f3n a la que queremos ir<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n<p>Mindful significa \u201cprestar atenci\u00f3n\u201d o estar \u201catento\u201d, es el sin\u00f3nimo de la palabra Mindfulness (Atenci\u00f3n Plena).\u00a0 Cuando practicas el \u201cestar presente\u201d cultivas una actitud basada en:<\/p>\n\n<div style=\"height:45px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">ACTITUD MINDFUL<\/h2>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>1 \u00b7 Curiosidad<\/strong> (en lugar de juzgar): presta atenci\u00f3n a las cosas que te ocurren con apertura y curiosidad, sin juicios. <\/li><li><strong>2 \u00b7 Paciencia:<\/strong> reconoce que tienes que darte tiempo, no apresurarte porque est\u00e1s practicando una nueva manera de ver la vida. La actitud Mindful.<\/li><li><strong>3 \u00b7 Mente de principiante<\/strong>: no te quedes atrapado en lo que sabes y en lo que te ha pasado antes. \u00c1brete a nuevas posibilidades, como si fuera la primera vez que observas algo.<\/li><li><strong>4 \u00b7 Aceptaci\u00f3n<\/strong>: no es igual que resignaci\u00f3n. No significa renunciar a cambiar las cosas en el futuro, sino m\u00e1s bien aceptar es <strong>no oponer resistencia<\/strong> al fluir de la vida o a lo que ya ha ocurrido. Muchas veces cuando algo nos desagrada lo evitamos (intentamos no pensar\/hablar de ello) y otras veces luchamos contra ello creando m\u00e1s sufrimiento en forma de rabia, indignaci\u00f3n o ira. Pero recuerda que <em><strong>\u201cLo que se resiste, persiste\u201d <\/strong><\/em>(Carl G. It is when we become aware and present that we can observe the content of our mind with our worries, fears and desires from a certain distance. We switch from \u201cauto-pilot\u201d mode (our default brain mode) to a \u201cbeing present\u201d mode, which allows us to have a <strong>Mindful Attitude<\/strong>.<\/span>\n\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400; font-size: medium;\">It is by this way of inner observing that we can become aware of the existence of helpful and pleasant currents of thought and emotions such as hope, memories of past accomplishments or healthy acceptance, that help us to achieve our objectives. But at the same time, we can notice unhelpful thoughts and emotions that can block our happiness and make it difficult to make life changes. Such is the case with sadness, intense fear, self-critical patterns of thinking, negativity and apathy.&nbsp;<\/span>\n\n<span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">We tend to classify emotions as positive or negative, but I believe there is a more adequate way of thinking about them as difficult or painful emotions instead of negative because <strong>all the range of human emotions serve a function to help us adapt<\/strong> and mobilize. <\/span><b>Emotions put us in motion.<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">&nbsp; Hence, all emotions give us information that we can use to our advantage in our personal development if we listen to and accept their message instead of fighting against it. I often tell my clients that fighting against our unpleasant emotions is a war against ourselves that we will always lose.&nbsp;<\/span><\/span>\n\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400; font-size: medium;\"><strong><em>So how can we accept what we see inside ourselves?<\/em><\/strong> and most importantly, what can we do to change it if we don't like what we find inside us?&nbsp;<\/span>\n\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400; font-size: medium;\">The first step is to notice and <span style=\"color: #00ad9c;\">become aware of our inner dialogue<\/span>. The next step is to discern if those thoughts and emotions are helpful in this moment or, on the contrary, they impede us moving forward in the direction we want our life to go.<\/span>\n<h2><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<h2><span style=\"font-weight: 400; font-size: x-large;\">MINDFUL ATTITUDE<\/span><\/h2>\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400; font-size: medium;\">Being Mindful means paying attention and being present, and these are the pillars to cultivate this way of being in the world:&nbsp;<\/span>\n\n<span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><span color=\"#00ad9c\" style=\"color: #00ad9c; font-size: large;\"><span style=\"caret-color: #00ad9c;\"><b>1&nbsp;\u00b7 Curiosity:&nbsp;<\/b><\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">(instead of critical judgment): pay attention to things that happen to you with an open mind. Be curious and explore alternative options to your harsh critical mind.<\/span><\/span>\n\n<span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><span style=\"color: #00ad9c;\"><b><span style=\"font-size: large;\">2 \u00b7 Patience:<\/span> <\/b><\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">recognize that you need time to practice this new skill. You are learning to view the world from a different perspective, one that most of us have not learned from childhood because we have been raised to be cautious and defensive.<\/span><\/span>\n\n<span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><span style=\"color: #00ad9c; font-size: large;\"><b>3 \u00b7 Beginner's mind: <\/b><\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">do not get trapped in the only reality you already know, just with the experience you have had in the past. Open up to new possibilities, have the beginner's mind you have when you travel to new exotic places and you are open and curious.&nbsp;<\/span><\/span>\n\n<span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><span style=\"color: #00ad9c; font-size: large;\"><b>4 \u00b7 Acceptance<\/b><\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"color: #00ad9c;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\">:<\/span> <\/span>this is NOT the same as resignation. It does NOT mean to give up making changes to your future and just sitting and waiting around. Think about it as accepting without resisting forcefully to the flow of life and to the things that have already happened (particularly to things that are not under our control). Usually, for most of us, when we experience something unpleasant we try hard to avoid it (not even thinking or talking about it). Other times, we fight fiercely against what we dislike creating more suffering in the form of anger and indignation. <\/span><\/span>\n\n<span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">But you must remember that <\/span><b><i>\u201cWhat you resist, persists\u201d <\/i><\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">(Carl G. Jung).<\/span><\/span>\n<blockquote>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"color: #666666;\"><strong>Pay attention to your precious life and you will broaden your catalogue of options.
